Kathryn Norris is only in year 10 but already she is representing Australia at a national level for her golfing skills.
She represented Australia at the 27th Singapore Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship, held at The Keppel Club from May 25-27.
Kathryn, who plays off a +3 handicap and is Western Australia's No.1 ranked junior girl golfer was the youngest player in the event, and after three rounds finished in 13th place.
She was also one of three girls who represented Australia at the 2016 World Junior Team Championship in Japan on June 14-17 at the Chukyo Golf Club.
Kathryn said that it was a great honour to represent her country, and she felt very lucky to have these opportunities.
“I love golf and it would be fantastic if I could make it as a tour player,” Kathryn said.
“For now, my aim is to play as well as I can, make the most of the opportunities I'm being given, and hopefully do well enough to make the national junior squad.”
The national selections came off the back of her recent successes in state and national junior tournaments, including a win for the Australian Girls team at the 2016 Trans-Tasman Cup, played at the Devonport Golf Club in Tasmania in April.
In addition to these recent golfing successes, Kathryn was a finalist for the 2016 WA Club Industry Award 'Junior Amateur Sportsperson of the Year', to recognise her golfing achievements.
