Peel projects designed to benefit women are set for a boost with the announcement on Tuesday of new funding by state women’s interest minister Liza Harvey.
Targeted at programs which improve women's economic independence and leadership prospects, Ms Harvey released $84,000 in grants.
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Resource Centre received $3500 for their Women in Business Networking program.
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Food and Farm Alliance received $3800 for Women Growing Food in the Peel Region and the City of Mandurah Migrant Women Business Power Up Program received $5000.
"We are striving to improve gender equity in the workplace and increase opportunities for women to progress to leadership positions," Mrs Harvey said.
"This involves linking work-ready women to employment, upskilling and retraining; promoting networking and resources; and improving superannuation awareness.
"It is great to see such a diverse range of innovative projects receive funding this year, particularly as more than 50 per cent will be based in regional WA."
The 18 approved projects across the state include planning and managing a food business, retirement income planning, financial literacy for women who are domestic violence victims or homeless, and an education program that will be delivered by radio.
The Grants for Women program is run by the Department of Local Government and Communities.
Funding of up to $5000 is available for community organisations to support projects that encourage women's economic independence and/or encourage women's leadership.
