It’s the news no family ever wants to hear about a loved one, but one Mandurah family has vowed to fight for their 11-month-old grand-daughter who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
Local car salesman Ross Brennan and his wife, Beverley, were devastated to learn of baby Summer’s diagnosis just two weeks ago.
A bump on her head that wouldn’t heal led to the agonising news their grand-daughter had stage 4 neuroblastoma.
The couple said it had turned their lives “upside down”, but a fundraising page set up to support the family is hoped to ease the financial burden of Summer’s treatment.
While Mrs Brennan has relocated to Perth with Summer’s mother while the Mandurah baby undergoes chemotherapy at Princess Margaret Hospital, Mr Brennan remained in Mandurah.
He said the family was struggling with the diagnosis their little girl was facing.
Mr Brennan referred to tumours in Summer’s head, abdomen, legs and arms as “spreading fast”.
“Beverley and Summers mother Jessica are by Summer’s side 24/7 and have even now relocated to Perth to stay closer,” he said.
“Some of our loving family have put together a support page on Facebook as well as a gofundme account to help support during this sad and crucial time.”
If you would like to keep up with the progress or share your support go to facebook.com/groups/SavingBabySummer/?fref=nf or to donate go to gofundme.com/savingbabysummer
“Any contributions, love or support would be graciously accepted and cherished,” Mr Brennan said.
