LOCAL up and coming boxers and boxing coaches had the chance to soak up new techniques and knowledge of the sport at a two-day camp ran by Boxing WA at Moorey’s Martial Arts over the weekend.
The camp was run as part of Boxing Australia’s Regional Development Program, which aims to introduce boxers to the correct techniques, terminologies and expectations at an early age.
Eight coaches and 20 keen boxers from across the Peel and South West regions attended the Erskine-based camp.
Boxing WA regional development coach Eddie Kuznicki said the event was well received.
“Usually we find regional centres don’t have the type of facilities or access to new knowledge that the metro areas have because of their distance,” he said.
“These camps are a great way for us to help teach both boxers and coaches new forms and coaches can then go back to their local gyms and teach the kids.
“Everyone really enjoyed the camp, it was a great success.”
