The City of Mandurah will improve the local road system through the reallocation of federal budget after being unable to deliver their initial project on time.
The City voted on Tuesday night to reallocate the funding towards two separate projects.
The works are funded through the Roads to Recovery program, in which the Federal Government provides funding to local governments to improve their road system.
The City of Mandurah was planning on upgrading the intersection at Pinjarra Road and Dower Street and Coolibah Avenue.
However, the upgrade relied on the acquisition of land to proceed, being impossible for the works to be completed within the allocated Roads to Recovery timeframe.
In order to preserve the allocated funding, the city has decided to improve two distinct points in Mandurah’s road network listed in the City’s 2015-2016 Capital Works Programme.
The works will also extend Bortolo Drive to connect Dalton Way with Gordon Road, Greenfields.
And fund the roundabout built at the intersection of Newport Drive and Coodanup Drive.
The works will be completed by June 30.
The City said changes won’t affect the 2015-2016 budget of works.
