Murphy’s Irish Pub has been firing up Mandurah’s fundraising spirit, collecting more than $6000 for local causes including GP down south’s youth mental health program.
At their biannual charity day earlier in May, members of staff and their regular patrons took to Dudley Park Bowling Club for an amateur tournament of barefoot bowls after a breakfast at the pub.
GP down south’s Eleanor Britton and Mandurah City councillor Dave Schumacher spoke at the breakfast about the youth mental health issues in Mandurah and how the funds raised would help local school children.
Eighty per cent of the proceeds were donated to GP down south for their local school based mental health awareness program which includes ambassador presentations, school workshops and individual counselling.
The remaining 20 per cent went to Murphy’s ongoing support for the K9 Rescue Group Mandurah.
The total raised for the event was $6357.50, with $5086 for GP down south and $1271.50 to K9 Rescue.
A spokesperson for Murphy’s said they would like to thank sponsors Mandurah Bus Charters and Tom Hill for driving the bus from the pub to the bowling club, Dudley Park Bowling Club, Dion Bloomfield from Mandurah Auto Group, Carlton & United Breweries, Riverside Trophies, Mandurah Taxis, MT Executives Cars, Wall 2 Wall Coverings & Painting, Peel Tinting & Windscreens and Bust-a-Burpee Family Fitness.
Since their first charity event in 2012, Murphy’s Irish Pub has raised $55,686.50 to support charities and community groups in the Peel region.
