Steph Curry is the NBA's best shooter, but who is Pinjarra's? Bragging rights are up for grabs at the Pinjarra Football Club's first ever beer pong tournament.
Cups will be half full and tables will be set as the Pinjarra Football Club hosts what could be the messiest (but by far the coolest) competition the town has ever seen.
Beer pong is played with two teams of two people standing at either end of a beer pong table.
Between them stands two sets of 10 cups at each end, laid out in a triangular formation like ten-pin bowling pins. Each is approximately half-full with a beer of choice.
The aim is to take turns in throwing your ping pong ball into the opposing team’s cups.
Whichever cup your ping pong ball lands in, the opposing team has to drink the contents of that cup.
The first team to eliminate all of their opposing side’s cups is the victor.
The tournament will be held in a bracket form, meaning each match is a knockout match with the winning side progressing to the next round and the losers being eliminated.
Each side is required to wear matching outfits and the event is for people over the age of 18.
Already 30 teams have signed up for the Pinjarra Tigers’ event, with the Splash Sisters (Brennan Gillam and Mackenzie O’Brien) and Bae-watch (Zoe Keenan and Danika Rundell) labelled the expected powerhouses of the competition.
Event organisers Dean Beswick and Krystal Lema said the 30-team registration had far exceeded expectations.
“We really didn’t know how much people would sign up, but it’s been really well received and we’re pleasantly surprised,” Beswick said.
“We’ve got a very social culture at the club where everyone enjoys getting together over a drink after games so it should make for a really fun night.”
The event is the football and netball sides’ first fundraiser for the year, and Lema said it will create indefinite bragging rights for the winner.
“There’s a lot at stake – whoever wins is going to have some serious bragging rights,” she said.
“We’re looking to make it a bit of an annual tradition.”
UPDATE: Tickets to the event have now sold out and positions are full.
