Anger and frustration are rife in the local arts and music community as the promoter of Fairbridge’s Disconnect festival has missed a third deadline to pay staff, a month after it was promised payments would be made for the festival, held in December 2015.
Controversy over the payments began when the festival’s promoter, Chris Knight, posted on social media in March asking for feedback and promoting the second run of the festival.
Artist Kellee Aberg said there was a lot of frustration in the arts community, especially from those who live and work locally.
“I’ve pretty much given up on getting paid, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen,” she said.
“But it’s the principle of the thing. It’s just unfair that these people, who fully supported the festival as a local attraction, have been hung up to dry.
“I just want to see them get what they deserve.”
Mr Knight has been contacted for comment on multiple occasions.
