WA's top sporting shooters have turned their sights on vandals who caused thousands of dollars damage to club premises at Wanneroo sometime on Sunday.
They are offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the conviction of offenders who smashed doors and spray painted the Wanneroo shooting complex between 3pm on Sunday and 8am Monday.
State president of the Sporting Shooters of Australia (WA) Ron Bryant said the offenders had likely accessed the club via a side track on a motorbike and come the rest of the way on foot.
Iron window gratings were forced aside, several doors were smashed, tables overturned and walls and other surface were spray painted with slogans like "Murder. Meat eaters - we will be back".
"We are a legitimate sporting club that calls itself home to a number of state and Australian champions," Mr Bryant said.
"It's extremely upsetting to our members to see our clubhouse treated in this way.
"We'll probably fix the mess ourselves," he said.
Mr Bryant suspected militant activists or those opposing gun ownership were likely behind the vandalism.
"They may have been monitoring the complex as we had people practising here until early afternoon on Sunday," he said.
Mr Bryant said that the association was cooperating with police in an effort to identify the offenders.
"We've also heightened security at our clubs throughout the state," he said.
No weapons are kept on the premises.
