Mandurah residents will breathe easier following a special community seminar next month.
Lung Foundation Australia chief Heather Allan said one in 10 people in Australia had a chronic lung disease such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, which was why it was so important to hold seminars in local communities.
“In Mandurah alone, this means that about 8000 people will be affected,” Mrs Allan said.
“For many, the symptoms of their condition (such as breathlessness) will be limiting their activities.
"During the seminar we will provide information to enable people with a lung disease to lead full and fulfilling lives, such as tips on how to fly.”
Local speakers from the Respiratory Testing Services and Falcon Grove Medical Centre will discuss ideas, tips and alternative ways of making everyday tasks like hanging out the washing a bit easier.
The seminar will be on May 26 from 9am-12pm at the Mandurah Bowling and Recreation Club and will cost $10 (payable on the day).
