A group of quilters, who affectionately call themselves the Mandurah Sew’n’So’s, are delivering a bundle of winter quilts to those in Yarloop who lost everything in January’s bushfires.
Quilter-in-chief Maxine Giles said they were delivering 33 handcrafted quilts which they had been working on for months.
She said the quilts had been sewn with their best materials and were suitable for women and men.
“We’ve all put our hearts into these and they’re just beautiful,” Mrs Giles said.
The 17 women meet every week to practice their craft and usually make blankets for foster children through Wanslea Family Services.
“I know these will be appreciated, because one of the ladies was on the committee of the Yarloop workshops,” she said.
In 2009, the group, which has been running for about 12 years, made 40 quilts for people made homeless by the disastrous Victorian bushfires.
