SINCE putting on their first exhibition in November last year, Mandurah’s Vivid Art Collective has blossomed, becoming a major feature of this year’s Stretch Arts Festival.
“We’re all Mandurah artists, and we’re trying to get a connection with the community, and kind of explore the identify of Mandurah,” painter Ingrid Bedford said.
“Because of our position at the old sailing museum, a lot of our works focus on the water, and how clear the colours are Mandurah, and the brightness of the sky and the sunsets.”
The gallery, located inside the Mandurah and Peel Convention Centre, is number 4 on the Stretch Arts trail, and opens Monday to Saturday from 9am, with a different artist manning the venue each day.
The collective will share their skills and techniques this weekend, May 7-8, with workshops and a showcase of classic painting mediums and more unusual techniques like carving emu eggs and weaving.
