A Mandurah domestic violence crisis service has a brand new kitchen, thanks to the support of local businesses and the community.
Pat Thomas House, which provides emergency accommodation for women escaping domestic violence, unveiled the new facilities on Wednesday, which included a new oven and rangehoods donated by Retravision (The Dorset Group).
The new and improved kitchen was installed by a small Mandurah women’s group called the Witches Coven, which is named because it started on Halloween.
Made up of 15 women, the group also holds high teas and garage sales throughout the year to raise funds for Pat Thomas House.
Pat Thomas House executive officer Marg Adams said the non-profit was grateful for the support received by the community, which would benefit women in crisis.
“We are currently refurbishing our refuge to give the women and their children safe, modern and welcoming facilities to make their stay as comfortable as possible under the circumstances,” she said.
“Support from community groups such as Witches Coven is essential to Pat Thomas House and women and their children fleeing domestic and family violence.”
