A BUSHFIRE emergency warning has been issued for people between Forrest Highway and Old Bunbury Road in the Shire of Waroona.
The fire, which affects people near the John Forrest Rest Area on Forrest Highway, was reported at 11am and was upgraded just before 1pm.
Firefighters are actively fighting the fire which is burning between Forrest Highway and Old Bunbury Road, on the western side of Forrest Highway.
People are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
There is a threat to lives and homes.
The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as properties are under direct threat.
Properties in the vicinity of Old Coast Road and Forrest Highway are under threat of fire.
The bushfire is out of control and unpredictable, is moving fast in a north easterly direction and burning embers are likely to be blown around people’s homes.
People are recommended to leave if the way is clear.
