A 29-year-old Shoalwater man has been charged with shooting another man outside the Rockingham Police Station on Thursday.
The man was sitting inside a car parked on Whitfield Street just outside the station about 12.10pm, when the victim approached the vehicle.
The man then shot him in the chest and drove off, WA Police spokeswoman Sarah Dyer said.
Local officers gave the 39-year-old Waikiki man first aid until an ambulance arrived.
He is now in stable condition at Royal Perth Hospital.
The alleged shooter will appear at Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday charged with 'attempted unlawfully to kill'.
