HI, I’M Amy. You may remember me from other gift-giving events like Father’s Day or the McRae’s wedding.
Yes, that’s right; I was the one who gave the awesome present.
I’m sorry but I can’t stop to chat – it’s the busiest gift-giving event of the year.
Move over Santa, I have a list to check and I only have time to check it once.
No matter who the gift is for, I always nail it.
My mum’s favourite gift – a Paco Rabanne perfume they no longer sell in Australia and had to get it shipped in from Europe.
My brother – well, he had his heart set on a limited edition vinyl from his favourite band.
There were only 300 of those bad boys in the world – THE WORLD – and you bet your bottom dollar that I managed to track one down.
They wanted a pretty penny for it as well; luckily I managed to get the seller down to an uglier one because my bank account was already crying.
My dad has always been a little simpler; his favourite was the box set of CatDog.
In the past it was always easy to find the perfect gift because there wasn’t a budget.
Unfortunately my boyfriend and I are saving for a house so I have been put on a strict $30 limit on everyone.
It’s hard to buy a present when you’re shackled by a budget and I do not like this; I do not like this at all.
My budget-conscious boyfriend is also aware of my dislike for spending limits, and therefore has come with me for every shopping trip to make sure I do not “slip up”.
This means, I still haven’t got my boyfriend’s present yet.
I’m hoping by the time you read this on Christmas Eve, I will have rectified this situation but it’s not looking likely as I write this on December 22.
So for all those still looking for presents at 7pm on Christmas Eve, I may see you there.
For everyone else – wish me luck. This is going to take a Christmas miracle.
