FEMALE mechanics are no longer restricted to the set of Fast and the Furious with 20-year-old Brooke Miller drifting into the Mandurah car repairs scene.
With five years experience and the RAC Technician of the Year 2015 title, Ms Miller opened her own workshop in Greenfields last week.
She said her passion for cars started when she was eight, following her dad around his garage.
“I was home schooled so after three hours studying a day I would head to the garage and help rip cars apart and put them back together,” Ms Miller said.
“I love everything about cars and working on them; it’s my passion.”
Starting her apprenticeship at RAC Brooke thought she might get “a bit of trouble” from the male mechanics but was pleasantly surprised by their attitude towards her.
“There aren’t that many female mechanics and I’m probably the only one with a workshop in Perth,” she said.
Ms Miller is also a keen go-kart competitor winning a Western Cup series and two South Eastern Zone series’ in eight years.
“I started racing an MX5 when I was 12 and loved it,” she said.
On Thornborough Road, Brooke’s Girl Torque, covers logbook services and mechanical repairs to all vehicle makes and models.
