SOUTH Mandurah may have loss its first game of the season but the highlight of round six of the Peel Cricket Association came from Andrew Peckover who posted an incredible 200 not out.
Peckover led last season’s premiers Singleton-Irwinians to its second win of the season in a dominant performance against Pinjarra.
Singleton-Irwinians won the toss and elected to send Pinjarra into bat first; a decision that proved to be the right one with Pinjarra all-out for just 91.
Jamie Lee top scored with 22 for Pinjarra while Ian Bowes picked up 4/24 from 10 overs.
Peckover also collected 2/12 from his 10 overs.
Pinjarra struck the first blow, dismissing Singleton-Irwinians opener Jack Whitefield for a duck.
However the same could not be said for fellow opener Peckover who saw out the whole innings to finish on 200 not out.
His innings included 19 fours and eight sixes to easily post the highest score of the season.
Jack Downard was the next best with 44 not out as the side went on to finish at 6/289.
Shoalwater Bay inflicted South Mandurah with its first loss of the season in a close game which has seen Mandurah move to top spot.
In a tight contest South Mandurah elected to bat first, making their way to 135 before being dismissed in the 46th over.
Opener Joe McConnell top scored with 52 while Graham Spinks was damaging with the ball for Shoalwater Bay with 3/19 from his nine overs which included the wicket of McConnell.
In reply Shoalwater Bay got off to a great start with openers Brandon Burt (64) and Nicholas Milligan (35) pushing their side past 100 before a middle order collapse.
The next six batters could only add eight runs leaving it to Spinks to get his side home.
Spinks finished on 11 not out with his side all out for 143.
Brad Holmes picked up 4/22 from his 10 overs for South Mandurah.
South Mandurah and Shoalwater Bay are currently second and third respectively with four wins, one loss and a draw; level with Mandurah on top.
Mandurah moved to top position following a big victory against the struggling Hillman.
Led by opener Jeremy Leatherbarrow (94), Mandurah were able to reach 181 before being dismissed in the 46th over.
Jimmy Reed picked up 3/35 from six over while Troy Lovegrove was economical with 2/18 from 10 overs.
Hillman never got going with the bat with Adam Jones (25) the only player past 20 as his side were bowled out for 96.
Matthew Jenkinson (2/12), Paul Okey (2/12) and Jawad Hafeez (2/21) were all good with the ball for Mandurah.
Waroona recorded its third win of the season to move to fourth position against the lowly Baldivis.
Waroona elected to bat first, making its way to 146 with Keren Ugle (33) and Nathan Anderson (31 not out) leading the way.
Mitch Brown was the best of the Baldivis bowlers with 3/26 from nine overs.
After a solid start that saw the first wicket fall with the score at 47, Baldivis looked like challenging the total.
The next three wickets fell with score now at 4/89 however the tail failed to wag with Baldivis bowled out for 103.
David Brewer was the pick of the batsmen with 32 while Waroona’s Mitchell Morley was unstoppable taking 5/7 from his eight overs.
In the final game of the round Halls Head got the points against Warnbro.
Warnbro were sent into bat first with the side stuttering to 106.
Jake Wyllie did the damage with the ball for Halls Head with 3/22 from 10 overs.
After a shocking start that saw the two openers fall for a duck and one run, Halls Head steadied to finish their innings at 9/164.
Andrew Tatterson was the highest run scorer with a well-made 40.
John Vickery was good with the ball for Warnbro with 2/10 from five overs.
