A BUSHFIRE alert has been issued for people living in parts of Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says there is a possible risk to lives and homes.
The alert is for the area bounded by Port Kennedy Drive, Warnbro Sound Avenue, Secret Harbour Boulevard, Pulsano Mews and Anguilla Court in the western parts of Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour, south of Rockingham.
The DFES alert said there was a possible threat to lives and homes because the fire was approaching the area and conditions were changing.
"You need to leave or get ready to actively defend. The fire is burning in bushland in Scientific Park," said the statement.
Firefighters are protecting houses in the area and working to contain the fire. Water bombers have been sent to help the crews on the ground.
The fire was reported just before 1pm. It's not known how it started.
Meanwhile the DFES has also issued a bushfire advice for Two Rocks. Its for the area north east of Yanchep, east of the Two Rocks township and south of Breakwater and Sea Trees Estate in the City of Wanneroo.
People in the area are being told to stay alert and monitor their surroundings.
