WORKING backstage on an AC/DC gig is any rocker’s dream come true and a reality for Mandurah teenager Nathan Menezes.
AC/DC will perform at Perth Arena this weekend with Castlerock Music College student Nathan being part of the sound team.
He said it was extremely exciting to be working so close to the rock legends, who were his favourite musicians.
“Hopefully I get to meet them when I’m helping pack up,” he said.
After finishing high school at Mandurah Catholic College Nathan studied a certificate three in music performance at Castlerock.
“The college helped me get a job at Music Force on Pinjarra Road and I’ve been able to make a lot of contacts in the industry,” Nathan said.
Classmate Dylan Conroy started at the college at the same time as Nathan and was recently nominated for the VET student of the year award.
The winner will be announced next year and Dylan said he was honoured to be nominated.
“I used the VET pathway during year 11 at Mandurah Catholic College and it was a great way to learn a lot about the music industry,” he said.
“I’m the drummer in Creative Flow but you don’t need to have any musical talent or knowledge at all because you can learn it all there.”
Castlerock is supported by the Challenger Institute of Technology and The Australian College of the Arts.
