LATEST job statistics released by the Department of Employment have revealed a significant drop in Mandurah’s unemployment rate.
The unemployment rate for October was 8.8 per cent, down from 11 per cent recorded in September.
Youth unemployment dropped slightly in Mandurah from 14.1 per cent in September to 13.9 per cent in October.
Employment Minister Michaelia Cash said unemployment across Australia had fallen.
“The unemployment rate for October 2015 has fallen from 6.2 per cent to 5.9 per cent – going against all market expectations,” she said.
“Whilst we’re seeing a drop in the unemployment rate, I’m pleased to note that as a country we are also seeing an increase in business confidence and an increase in consumer confidence.”
The rate is calculated on a three month average and is released monthly.
