DAVID Charles Batty, the man accused of perpetrating the 12-hour Bunbury siege in July, made a brief appearance in court on Wednesday.
Mr Batty appeared at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link from the Frankland Centre, a maximum-security psychiatric hospital on the Graylands Hospital campus.
Mr Batty's lawyer asked for an adjournment based on a report from the Frankland Centre.
"Clearly Mr Batty is not in a condition to [go ahead]," she said.
Mr Batty was remanded in custody, to appear again on February 17 for a mention in the same court.
Dozens of police assembled on the banks of the Leschenault Inlet near the Bunbury CBD on the evening of July 17 after Mr Batty allegedly strapped explosives to his body and sat in front of a hostage, blocking police access.
The siege came to a dramatic end early the following morning when the hostage was released and police fired two non-lethal rounds before arresting the accused.
