THE hard work and dedication from one local bodybuilder has paid off with Celine Rattray receiving a professional classification following a World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) event.
Rattray received her pro-card after winning the figure division of a WBFF competition on the Gold Coast last month.
Winners aren’t guaranteed a pro-card with the judges having the option of handing out the honour.
WBFF, the Victoria’s Secret of the fitness world, combines fitness, beauty and modelling while promoting health and fitness worldwide.
Now that Rattray has her pro-card she gains entry to world events including next year’s international event in Las Vegas where she will compete against the best of the best.
“I’m still speechless,” Rattray said. “I’m very proud.
“I can now compete on the world stage rather than state or national events.”
The 36-year-old J’Adore Beauty Spa Mandurah owner competed in her first body building competition four years ago and immediately fell in love with the sport.
“I use to train when I was 18 or 19 but the fitness industry wasn’t that big then; there wasn’t much opportunity.
“So I put it on the side burner until I got back into fitness with staff when I was about 30.
“We used to do boot camps then I joined a gym.
Rattray said after moving to a bigger gym and taking up more and more she went to her first fitness show in 2011.
“There was this 56-year-old woman on stage and I was blown away,” Rattray said.
“She looked fantastic, she was glowing and looked so healthy; she had this big smile on her face.”
Rattray said that was when she knew she wanted to take it seriously.
The dedicated athlete went on the place second in the World Fitness Federation (WFF) Class 1 Ms WA and Ms Australia competition in 2012 before winning the same WA competition in 2013 and placing second again in the national competition.
In 2014 she again won the Ms WA competition and was the overall WA champion however she went one step further winning the WFF Class 1 Ms Australia title.
She also placed second in the WFF Ms World competition.
This year Rattray decided to make a change, moving to the WBFF where she placed second in the figure division in May before going on the win the division in October, in the process gaining the pro-card.
“After moving away [from the WFF] and competing in the WBFF I decided I wanted to stay,” she said.
“It’s more family orientated, they’re very caring and professional.”
After being involved competitively in body building for four year Rattray said she would have never imagined she would get this far.
“It’s hard, you have to make sacrifices,” she said.
“I get up at 4 o’clock in the morning to train and prepare my food.
“I also have the business I run, it’s full on.”
Rattray recommended getting involved in bodybuilding but said people needed to dedicated.
