THE Fremantle Dockers have made six further changes to their playing list with experienced duo Ryan Crowley and Paul Duffield leading the list of exiting players.
Crowley played 188 with the Dockers but his career was cut short after sitting out for 12 months due to a positive drug test.
Duffield took to the field 171 times for Fremantle but aged seemed to catch up with the 30-year-old this season.
However, Dockers alignment club Peel Thunder will feel it most with Max Duffy, Jacob Ballard and Craig Moller all delisted.
It is unknown if the players will line up for the Thunder next year or seek opportunities at another club.
Josh Deluca has also been cut but will be re-drafted by the Dockers in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft if he’s still available.
Ballard would consider himself most unlucky with the midfielder leading Peel Thunder for total disposals (average of 26 disposals per game) to be one of the favourites to take out the club’s best and fairest award.
It was Ballard’s second-consecutive solid season with the Thunder after winning Peel’s runner-up best and fairest last year.
Ballard made his AFL debut this season in round 23 when the Dockers’ rested half its regular team.
Ballard came on as the sub late in the game collecting six disposals.
Duffy led the goal kicking for Dockers-listed players in the WAFL in 2015 with 20 goals from his 17 games; however that number could have been higher with the forward kicking 22 behinds.
Duffy has played three AFL games in his two years at the Dockers, his only game in 2015 also coming in round 23 where he gathered 12 disposals and kicked a goal.
For Moller it appears that the Dockers patience with the ruckman finally ran out after three seasons despite having his best season to date.
Moller kicked 18 goals from his 20 League appearances this year after playing 19 Leagues game in the previous two years.
If the players are not drafted by another team at this year’s draft they could take comfort in Sam Menegola’s standout season with Subiaco this year after being delisted by the Dockers’ in 2014 despite placing third in Peel’s best and fairest.
Despite missing the first 10 games through injury, Menegola averaged 29 disposals a game in his last 14 to narrowly miss out on winning the Sandover Medal.
His season has been honoured with the midfielder invited to the State Draft Combine meaning at least two AFL clubs have shown interest in him.
