WHILE the League side may have lost the Peel Thunder Colts advanced to the preliminary final following a 43-point victory against West Perth.
Peel will now face a rematch against Swan Districts, the side they lost to by 57 points in a qualifying final, for a spot in the grand final on Sunday.
Peel started strongly against West Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Sunday kicking seven goals to one in the first quarter.
The game tighten up in the second quarter with Peel able to narrowly extend its lead to go into half time 41 points ahead.
It was a similar story in the second half with both sides kicking seven goals each with Peel’s seven-goal first quarter the difference in the end with the final margin 43 points, 19.8 (122) to 12.7 (79).
Competition-leading goal scorer Brett Milward was on song for Peel with six goals straight.
Luke Shepherd was also influential for Peel with 18 disposals and four goals.
Joshua Schoenfield led all disposal getters with 33 for Peel while Dylan Winton returned to the Thunder Colts after playing predominantly Reserves this season with 29 disposals.
The winner of Peel Thunder and Swan Districts on Sunday at HBF Arena in Joondalup will face Claremont in the grand final.
The last time Peel played Swans they kicked just four goals for the game to go down 13.12 (90) to 4.9 (33).
In the sides’ previous encounter Swans secured a 22-point victory, 13.7 (85) to 8.15 (63).
Poor kicking let Peel down with the Mandurah side kicking three goals, 12 behinds in the opening half to lead by just nine points before Swans finished the game stronger.
