PEEL Thunder’s inaugural final series came to disappointing end on Sunday with the Mandurah side knocked out in straight sets.
Peel were still in the match against East Perth for much of the game, partly due to the Royals’ poor conversion rate, but in end went down by 22 points, 10.24 (84) to 9.8 (62).
Peel started the game strongly to lead by two goals at quarter time but failed to kick a goal in the second quarter while East Perth peppered the goals, kicking two goals, six behinds to lead by five points at half time.
The lead grew to 12 points at three-quarter time with the final margin 22.
It could have been greater with East Perth kicking three goals, 10 behinds in the final quarter.
Total disposals were close for both teams at the end of the game however East Perth finished with 20 more inside 50s.
Matthew Taberner was a shining light up forward for Peel with five goals while Ed Langdon (24 disposals, one goal) and Jacob Ballard (25 disposals) battled hard.
Brendan Lee led the way for East Perth with 35 disposals and a goal.
Peel took to the field wit 14 Dockers-listed players while East Perth had 12 Eagle-listed players.
East Perth will now play West Perth in a preliminary final while Peel will look to next year.
