MANDURAH was the envy of the beauty industry at this year’s West Australian International Hairstylists Society awards with two local businesses taking out awards.
Head Graffiti won 15 awards including Salon of the Year, while BAM Makeup Studio’s Brooke Wragg received Makeup Artist of the Year in the flawless skin category.
Head Graffiti owner Stephanie Bellairs said she had a great time mentoring her staff to compete in the competition.
“We couldn't be prouder or happier for our team,” Ms Bellairs said.
“It just goes to show how their hard work and dedication has paid off.”
Among Head Graffiti’s award recipients were Jade Austin who was named Senior of the Year, Angie Martin who was Colourist of the Year and Sam Mitting who was Junior of the Year.
Ms Bellairs also took out first in the Queen of Brides and Avantguarde photoholic sections.
Ms Wragg said being named Makeup Artist of the Year was a great honour, particularly since BAM has only been open for 10 weeks.
“It was a little bit of a bridal look that I competed with,” she said.
“It’s a very fresh, bright and dewy look.”
All competitors were required to finish their models in front of judges and were marked on the overall look and challenges they faced.
