SOUTH Mandurah is through to the 2015 Peel Football League grand final after edging out Halls Head by two points in a thrilling semi-final.
At three-quarter time it looked like Halls Head were on its way to the grand final after leading by 26 points.
South Mandurah had led by 17 points at half-time but a seven-goal, two-point to just one-point had Halls Head storm into the lead.
South Mandurah peppered the goals in the final quarter kicking four goals, six behinds to Halls Head’s two behinds to come out as winners, 8.15 (63) to 9.7 (61).
Brad Holmes led the way for South Mandurah with five goals with competition-leading goal scorer Marc Re slotting five for Halls Head.
Halls Head will have another crack at making the grand final when they come up against Waroona who stopped Pinjarra’s dreams of three premierships in a row in the other semi-final.
In another close final, Waroona prevailed by eight points, 11.7 (73) to 10.5 (65).
Waroona led by 14 points at three-quarter time and were able to hold on for victory.
Pinjarra’s Joel O’Driscoll led all goal scorers with four.
South Mandurah is also into the grand final of the Reserves after coming away with an 11-point victory against Baldivis, 8.5 (53) to 6.6 (42).
Baldivis will play Halls Head in a preliminary final and another shot to make it to the grand final after halls Head knocked off Waroona.
Halls Head were able to hold Waroona goalless in the second half to win by 26 points, 7.15 (57) to 4.7 (31).
In the Colts, South Mandurah has qualified for the grand final after defeating Waroona by 38 points.
Waroona will come up against Halls Head in a preliminary final after Halls Head defeated Baldivis by 19 points.
