A MANDURAH man who is alleged to have indecently assaulted a 79-year-old man was refused bail in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday.
The man, who will not be named, is also facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm following an alleged attack on his own 77-year-old mother.
The incidents are said to have happened earlier this year with police referring to the alleged offences as “sickening”.
The court heard the man suffered from mental health issues and was struggling in the general population on remand.
Police opposed bail on the grounds the man “clearly has disrespect for the elderly in the community”.
Officers expressed concern for the man’s mother if he were to be released.
Magistrate Leanne Atkins refused bail, saying she had serious concerns there could be further offending.
The man was remanded in custody to face court again on September 18.
