The Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days kicked off in beautiful weather yesterday, making for an extra happy crowd.
The agricultural expo attracted large numbers on day one, from farmers and agriculture specialists to parents and children.
A large number of diverse stalls showcased products and services including machinery, agronomy, tools, cars, food, wines, fashion, tourism, entertainment, demos, seminars and plenty more.
Local Merredin farmer Peter Meharry said what really impressed him was the diversity of equipment on display.
"In particular, the boom sprays," he said.
"My highlight of the day was seeing the Agrifac Condor Endurance self-propelled boom spray."
It was exciting for Collie farmer Darryl Anderton, with it being his first Dowerin Field Days.
"I am very excited to be at my first Dowerin Field Days," Mr Anderton said.
"I loved checking out the new and very old farming methods and to see how they have changed."
The Wheatbelt community of less than a thousand attracts up to 25, 000 in the two day period of Dowerin Field Days, with businesses and people coming from all across the state.
Member for Durack Melissa Price said the Dowerin Field Days has a long and rich history, and is widely renowned throughout Australia as one of the largest agricultural expos in the country.
“So much so, the Dowerin Field Day is now considered among the three largest agricultural machinery events in Australia.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for people from far and wide to not just see Dowerin and enjoy the numerous stalls and activities, but the robust agricultural sector we have in the Wheatbelt.”
