AUSTIN Cove Baptist College student Keith Mutundawe will get the opportunity to do what all students have ever wanted to do; be a principal for the day.
The Students Principal for a Day is a national initiative run but the Principal Australia Institute.
Austin Cove is running the initiative for the second time which will see a student learn what it is like to be a principal.
Students had to write a letter explaining why they should get the opportunity and year eleven student Keith was chosen.
Keith will work with College Primary School principal Keith Newby and see what his day-to-day life will be like.
Keith said he was looking forward to being the principal.
“It is a great opportunity to talk to younger students who I don’t usually get to talk to,” he said.
"I am looking forward to meeting all the different students and different characters.”
As part of Keith’s duties, he will help deliver an assembly, meet some of the parents, and reward students who have done good work.
Mr Newby said it gave the students an opportunity to learn about leadership and see if education may be a career they were willing to consider.
“It is about identifying students who have leadership skills,” he said.
“It gives them an opportunity to see what leadership in school is all about.”
Keith will step into the principal's chair on Wednesday, June 3.
