The crew of the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter scan the ocean and its surroundings for any threats - stepping-up when someone needs help.
But while your safety will be in good hands - you don't want to be in a position to attract their attention.
This can be seen by the common reaction of most who have called on the chopper, according to crew member Cam Coulson.
"We get a first smile and a thumbs up and then they are normally just pretty relieved to see the bird in the sky there, it's quite a good feeling," he said.
Having taken to the WA skies daily since the service started here back in 2008, Mr Coulson said they work alongside Water Police and life guards on the ground so they can reach trouble in a matter of minutes.
"We've got a radio with a direct link to the life guards and if someone is reported missing they can contact us, real time, and straight away we can become airborne," he said.
"We are always rescue ready…everyday is different, we come to work prepared and see where the day takes us."
The chopper, aka The Squirrel, is fitted with GPS technology pinpointing Water Police to any trouble.
It is prepared and ready to go all-year round and just last week the crew were able to track down four missing divers - separated from their boat off Rottnest Island.
"In the space of about 15 minuets we were out at the west end of Rottnest conducting a search pattern for the missing divers. Fortunately our pilot saw the missing people quite quickly,"
"It's very good visibility from the air," Mr Coulson said.
After spotting the five divers the crew were able to let off a signal for the Water Police to locate them and their job was done.
But like many public services the Squirrel relies heavily on funding, which is why Mr Coulson is preparing to compete in the Swan River run on July 26, to raise much-needed cash for the service.
