A new list of Australia's most borrowed non-fiction library books has been topped by a Jamie Oliver cookbook.
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) announced lists of the most borrowed books from libraries across the country for the first quarter of 2015 on Monday.
Libraries were asked to provide their top five most borrowed books in four categories: adult non-fiction, adult fiction, young-adult and children's books.
In line with the country's culinary obsession, Jamie's 15 Minute Meals by Jamie Oliver claimed the top title in adult non-fiction.
Another two of Oliver's cookbooks, Save with Jamie and Jamie's 30 Minute Meals, featured in the list alongside Australian author and media personality Sarah Wilson's divisive I Quit Sugar.
Outside the kitchen, readers enjoyed sinking their teeth into gripping page turners with crime and thriller novels making up half of the top-10 adult fiction loans.
British thriller Never Go Back by Lee Child - the latest in the fast-paced Jack Reacher series - was the most borrowed adult fiction novel, ahead of Australian quirky romantic comedy The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, and American crime novel The Gods of Guilt by Michael Connolly.
Child's A Wanted Man also featured on the list alongside Inferno by American author Dan Brown and novel-turned-blockbuster film, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
Australian writers accounted for half of the most popular adult fiction list.
Aside from Simsion, Hannah Kent's Burial Rites, Tim Winton's Eyrie, Richard Flanagan's Man Booker Prize-winning The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Daniel O'Malley's science fiction novel The Rook completed the top 10.
Popular films influenced the top books borrowed by young adults, or anyone who enjoys a young adult fiction page-turner or tear-jerker.
The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins topped the list, followed by the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, The Fault in our Stars by John Green and the The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney topped the most borrowed children's books.
Association chief executive officer Sue McKerracher said the organisation focused on public library users' favourite reads as part of Library and Information Week.
The survey covered more than 150 library services across the nation from February to April including ebooks, which represented less than 5 per cent of loans.
"Australian authors held their own despite strong international contenders in ... three categories, while American writers dominated young adult fiction," Ms McKerracher said.
