A MANDURAH man will face sentencing next month after pleading guilty to assaulting and wounding his partner on Tuesday evening.
The man, who cannot be named in order to protect his victim’s identity, was charged with aggravated unlawful wounding and unlawful assault causing bodily harm following the violent incident that happened on Dower Street at 10pm.
The court heard the man and his partner had been in a relationship for more than a year when an altercation broke out at the home they shared.
The offender punched his partner three times to the face, causing lacerations and swelling.
He then took a large kitchen knife and lunged at the victim before slicing the other man’s right shin.
The victim was treated at Peel Health Campus.
No comment was made by the offender about the crime.
Bail was opposed by the police prosecutor who said the man was a threat to his partner.
Magistrate Vivien Edwards ordered a written pre-sentence report prior to the man’s next appearance on June 9.
Bail was refused.
