STUDENTS and staff from Meadow Springs Primary School were presented with a commemorative Spirit of the Anzac coin at an Anzac Day assembly on Friday.
The coin, which features Simpson and his donkey on one side and the school logo on the other, was commissioned by the school to commemorate the Gallipoli centenary.
At the Anzac Day service a selection of students who showed courage, endurance and mateship received Spirit of the Anzac awards.
The 10 most outstanding students were presented with a medallion and a vial of sand from Gallipoli.
The awards winners were Xander Young, Tayyem Soliman El Basha, Benjamin Sheppherd, Marley Kimathi, Bridie Waring, Kelsy Ross, Bayley Reany, Ty Kelly, Jodie Dulson and Bethany Searle.
In the lead up to Anzac Day classrooms erected special Anzac displays in their classrooms.
Teacher Teena Graham brought in various items from her great grandfather, grandfather, dad and brother who all served in wars.
Mrs Graham said her great grandfather Sydney Gould served in World War I, while her grandfather Sydney Gould served in World War II, her father Keith Gould served in Vietnam and her brother Darren Gould served in Afghanistan.
