STUDENTS and teachers from more than 30 schools across the Peel region attended a combined schools commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Anzacs at Gallipoli.
More than 900 people gathered at the Mandurah War Memorial on Thursday for the ceremony and students from all of the schools laid wreaths.
All aspects of the event were carried out by young people from the community.
Frederick Irwin Anglican School band accompanied the service, as well Mandurah Catholic College’s choir.
After the ceremony seven lone pines were dedicated to seven Victoria Cross recipients who were at the Battle of Lone Pine and a carob tree for those who did not return from Gallipoli.
There was also a vintage aircraft fly-over during the event.
