OFFICERS from the Gang Crime Squad have arrested and charged a Rebels Outlaw MotorcycleGang (ROMCG) member at the conclusion of an investigation focussing on the Rockingham chapter of the gang.
Last Friday 27 March 2015, officers executed a search warrant at a Golden Bay property with the assistance of Dog Squad, and it will be alleged that 2.3 kilograms of methamphetamine was seized from the property.
The charged man, a 29-year-old of Port Kennedy who is a senior member of the gang, was charged with one count of possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply.
He will appear at Perth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Organised Crime Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Hart said the seizure was further evidence of OMCG involvement in high level organised crime and their contribution to the widespread methamphetamine problem facing WA.
“It also demonstrates the willingness of OMCG’s to exploit the vulnerable in the community for their own gain,” he said.
“This seizure has a wholesale value of more than $600,000 but translates to 23,000 end user deals worth more than $1.5 million. This seizure will have a significant financial impact on the ROMCG.”
WA Police urge anyone who is a victim of crime committed by OMCG members to come forward and report the matter to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
