MEALTIMES will be more nutritious than ever for Riverside Primary School after a donation of 50 healthy eating plates.
The plates have a pie chart of the amount of vegetables, protein and carbohydrates that should be in a meal and were donated by the Australian Institute of Sport.
Principal Deborah Bloor said it was important to teach students about how much food should be in each meal.
“The earlier we start teaching children about portion sizes hopefully we can beat the obesity epidemic,” she said.
The plates were organised by Riverside parent and Eastlake Church volunteer Jessica Cumby, who helps with the school’s breakfast club that runs three times a week.
