THE Mandurah Over 55 Cycling Club held a give-it-a-go cycling day on Tuesday as part of this year’s Peel Region Cycle Instead Bikeweek.
More than 80 cyclists, including Mandurah deputy mayor Darren Lee participated in rides from 15 kilometres to 60km departing from the Mandurah Yacht Club.
Mandurah Over 55 Cycling Club secretary Brian MacFarlane said Bikeweek showcased the facilities available for cycling in the Peel region.
“I took up cycling four years ago and now ride 40-50km a day; everyone should give cycling a go,” he said.
The Peel Region Cycle Instead Bikeweek commenced on Saturday and will run for a fortnight due to the large number of events organised.
On Saturday iBike, a ride for people aged 16 to 25, will depart from Mandurah Fleet Cycles with a mountain biking event in Dwellingup and a Bike Fun Day at Austin Lakes held on Sunday.
