Esperance Tennis Club’s new head coach Dianne Hollands has taken out the Esperance March Open Women’s Singles Title.
It is the first time in years that an Esperance player has won this Australian Money Tour title that traditionally attracts some of the best players from around WA and also interstate.
Ms Hollands, 31, was a two time New Zealand national champion who won numerous titles on the World Tennis Association and International Tennis Federation tours before retiring last year. She took up the position of head coach at Esperance Tennis Club in January.
She beat fourth seed Lexie Weir from Cottesloe in the final 4-2 2-4 4-1.
Esperance Tennis Club President Damien Schlink said the 2015 Esperance March Open had been a huge success, with 170 entrants from around Western Australia and the introduction of a new tournament, the Horizon Power Mixed Doubles Twilight Tournament, which was won by Brenton Bacon and Olivia Rimmer from Wembley Downs.
“With more than $4000 in prize money and Australian rankings points up for grabs, it was a really exciting tournament that attracted high quality competitors. For our own Dianne Hollands to take out the Women’s Title is a great result for our club,” Mr Schlink said.
