TELSTRA is urging Mandurah residents to support their local businesses and nominate them for the 2015 Telstra Western Australian Business Awards.
With entries for the 2015 awards now open there is an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge Mandurah’s most innovative and inspiring small and medium businesses among the nation’s finest.
Businesses in Mandurah can enter five different awards categories including start-up, micro, small, medium and regional business with winners sharing in $800,000 worth of prizes.
Last year Mandurah Cruises and Gift Shop took out the regional award. Managing director Rod Bishop said the business’ vision was to remain one of the region’s best employers, offering training opportunities to the local youth who wish to enter marine, hospitality and tourism industries.
Telstra area general manager Nicola Swarbrick said many regional and rural businesses are overcoming challenges of transportation networks, markets, staff and costs to produce some of the State’s most exceptional products and services.
“Telstra is proud to shine a light on businesses sustaining our regional towns and centres with employment and growth opportunities through the Regional Award,” she said.
“Mandurah businesses aren’t just limited to the regional award, we’ve seen many regional businesses in the past such as Karratha-based Handley Surveys go on to win in other categories such as the Telstra WA Medium Business Award,” Mrs Swarbrick said.
Entries close on March 30 and will be judged on extended human resources criteria along with business achievements, strategy, customer service, financials, sales and marketing, innovation and social responsibility.
