Dine-and-dash couple return to Bunbury restaurant to pay bill after online campaign

The French pair returned to Mojo's Restaurant in the city of Bunbury, about 170 kilometres south of Perth, to pay for a three-course meal and alcohol they had enjoyed the previous Saturday night.

The pair had pretended to go our for a cigarette break at the end of their meal, but left the restaurant without paying their bill.

The following day, an appeal was posted on the restaurant's Facebook page appealing for the couple to return and pay up that day.

When the couple did not return, a CCTV image of the pair was posted on the restaurant's Facebook page on Monday.

The story soon made national headlines, with Mr Brunning even appearing on Channel Seven's Sunrise to appeal for the couple to return.

A post on the Facebook page of Mojo's Restaurant on Thursday afternoon said the couple had been sacked by the farmer who was employing them in Manjimup, about 130 kilometres south-east of Bunbury, and that they had been sent back to the restaurant to rectify the situation.

The couple settled the account "with some embarrassment", the post said, and the owners did not want the incident investigated by police, as the couple appeared to have paid the price for their actions.

The owners said Australia has "dished" out justice, resulting in the small business getting a small win "because of everyone's support".

Before the couple settled the bill, Mr Brunning told the Bunbury Mail that the level of community support had blown him away.

"It was truly heart-warming to know that our followers and many more people we don't know felt compelled to share the post with other friends and the wider community," he said.

"It goes to show that our community is a strong one that cares deeply about their broader neighbours and what transpires in this city.

"Those caring people are truly inspiring and we are proud to live in Bunbury with them."
