THE investigation into the disappearance of Mandurah’s Hayley Dodd has taken a turn with detectives seeking to charge a suspect with murder.
Cold case squad officers are understood to have spent the past two years gathering evidence against Francis John Wark, who was an initial suspect following Hayley’s 1999 disappearance.
Wark, who lived at the Badgingarra property searched by police last year, is currently serving a 12-year jail term in Queensland for the abduction and rape of a woman.
He has been interviewed before about his possible involvement in Hayley’s disappearance, but denied any knowledge about the case.
Detectives have asked the Depatrment of Public Prosecutions to review their information in a bid to bring Wark to trial.
