SHIRE of Augusta Margaret River’s plan to provide a safer community has received a boost from the state government.
WA Police Minister Liza Harvey announced on Tuesday, February 24, the shire would receive nearly $10,000 towards its crime prevention initiatives.
The shire’s Safer Communities Plan was released for public comment on February 11.
The plan includes an action plan which sets out to be achieved by 2018.
The first goal is injury prevention which would see agencies work together to address drug and alcohol related harm, engage youth and community in healthy social activities and more education about water safety.
Second gaol is crime prevention which includes CCTV, education and awareness raising as well as graffiti management.
The third goal is effective emergency management which includes formalised structures and arrangements in place to assist emergency management.
The third goal also looks at preparing the community for a disaster as well preparing them for recovery.
Submissions close on March 20 and the plan can been seen on amrshire.wa.gov.au
