MANDURAH’S Jeremy Leatherbarrow became the first player to score multiple centuries, but it was not enough, as his side wASdefeated by Warnbro at Meadow Springs turf on Saturday.
The opening batsman cracked 117 out of the team total of 163 and the side was bowled out in 42.1 overs, with Leatherbarrow the final wicket to fall.
That 117 equates to 71.77 per cent of total runs, with Ian Lattimore the only other player to make it into double figures with 15.
The century is the ninth of the season; with Warnbro’s Daniel Cook’s 149 the highest score so far.
In reply, Warnbro easily got the points and reached 3/236 from their 50 overs.
With on round remainingSingleton Irwinians has moved into third place on the ladder after defeating the in-form Pinjarra at Pinjarra Turf. Pinjarra won the toss and batted with the ever-reliable Chris Zadow making 80 from 105 balls with 10 fours and two sixes to lead the side to 174.
Andrew Peckover was again the pick of the bowlers; taking 3/23 from 9.1 overs, while Jacob Brownley and Daniel Jones taking two each.
In reply, Singleton Irwinians finished with 7/217 from their 50 with Jones (65) and Bryce Evans (55) scoring half centuries.
Robert Mclean was the main threat with the ball taking 2/21 from 10 overs.
Evans is now the competition’s leading run-scorer with 593 runs at 39.53 with Halls Head’s Andrew Tatterson scoring 483 at 34.5.
Evans has scored three 50’s and one century, all coming in the past six matches.
South Mandurah is back on the winners’ list after defeating Waroona at Waroona Turf.
South Mandurah were sent in by Waroona and made 9/195 from their 50 with the Kevin Dubicki (36), Matthew Mcmahen (25), Jesse Hockings (23) and Joe McConnell (20) all getting starts for South Mandurah.
Ben Wright did most of the damage with the ball, taking an economical 3/10 from seven.
Waroona were then ripped apart by gun all-rounder Matt Hill, as he took 4/37 from 10 overs.
Hill bowled his overs out from the start of the innings with Brad Holmes (2/15) Jesse Buck (2/3) and Ben Hoffman (2/5) all causing the collapse.
Nic Rep was the only player to provide any resistance, with a well-made 35, which added to his two wickets in the first innings.
Shoalwater Bay has continued their winning ways with a comfortable win over Hillman at Stan Twight East Turf.
Shoalwater Bay batted first with Garry Smith making 53 at the top of the order and Mitchell Hind made 40 late in the innings.
In reply, Hillman got to 9/151 with Mitchell Shellam providing the only resistance with 42.
John Vickery was the pick of the bowlers with 3/22 in just his fourth A-grade game of the season. Halls Head are still in second place after a close win over White Knights Baldivis at Peelwood Turf.
Hayden Lynn top-scored with a well-made 40 while Cameron Reyne scored 37 in his first match of the season to lead White Knights Baldivis to 136.
In reply, Halls Head was struggling at 5/58, but Josh Petersen (43) and Chris Phelps (30) led a fight back with a partnership of 61 to lead them to a win.
Ben Sharp and Ryan DeBoni took two wickets each for White Knights Baldivis.
Cricket takes a break next week before the final round of the season on March 7.
