Four struck by lightning as storms hit Perth and South West on Thursday

Two workers escaped serious injury after lightning struck in City Beach on Thursday.

The men were working on a construction site when the storm hit them late in the morning.

Both men were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital after the bolt of lightning struck Challenger Parade about 11am. They were discharged shortly afterwards.

A total of four people were hospitalised across the state on Thursday as a result of lightning strikes.

A man in his 30s was taken to Rockingham Hospital after a strike was reported in Wandi at about 1pm.

In a third incident, a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital after lightning struck Collie at about 4.20pm.
