A BUSHFIRE emergency warning has been issued for people in Wellard and Baldivis, with a threat to lives and homes.
The fire is in an area bounded by Bertram Road, Kwinana Freeway, Mundijong Road, and Baldivis and Wellard Roads to the West.
Those in the area are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
The fire started on the eastern side of Baldivis Road and is burning on both sides of Millar Road towards Johnson Road.
It is moving fast in a north easterly direction at 500 metres per hour.
The fire is out of control and unpredictable and burning embers are likely to be blown around homes.
If the way is clear, those in the area should leave now for a safer place.
Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly.
For those who cannot leave, they need to get ready to shelter in their home and actively defend it.
There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
If one's plan is to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected.
For those who have access to a water tank and plan to defend their home, start patrolling with your hose and put out spot fires.
For those who are not at home, it is too dangerous now to return.
