Hundreds of people packed the foreshore on Monday morning for the City of Mandurah's Australia Day event.
Aboriginal elder Harry Nannup and former mayor Paddi Creevey were named Freemen of the City.
The Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards were presented as part of the ceremony.
Dee Castillo was awarded outstanding community contribution by a local citizen over 25, Bree Klasztorny took out the outstanding community contribution by a local citizen under 25 years of age and the Combined Rotary Clubs of Mandurah – Duck Race won the outstanding community contribution by a local group or community event.
