SOUTH Mandurah all-rounder Brad Holmes cracked the highest score of the season and bagged three wickets to lead South Mandurah to victory over Hillman at Peelwood Turf.
Holmes hit 129 to lead South Mandurah to 9/299 from their 50 overs with Kevin Dubicki scoring 34 in his first game at number seven.
Holmes’ 129 was the highest score fo the season so far, surpassing Jeremy Leatherbarrow’s 128 in round 10.
Holmes then opened the bowling and bagged three wickets for 16 runs off seven overs with two maidens.
That helped bowl Hillman out for 181 from 48.4 overs.
Mitchell Shellham scored 81 for Hillman which was his first 50 since October last year.
Phil Worth continued his good bowling form taking 2/32 from 10 overs with three maidens to take his tally to 20 wickets for the season.
South Mandurah now sit second on the ladder by just 0.03 points following their win.
Shoalwater Bay sit on top with 95.78 points after 13 games with nine wins, a draw and a loss while South Mandurah are on 95.75 points with the same amount of wins, losses and draws.
At Waroona turf, Ben Wright smashed the second hundred of the round to lead Waroona to a win over Pinjarra.
Wright hit 102 off 86 balls which featured seven fours and seven sixes in the second innings of the game.
Pinjarra won the toss and elected to bat, but were bowled out for just 123 off 34.5 overs with Ryan Pack (45) and James McLeod (30) leading the way.
Wright took 4/17 with the ball while William Ward and Ganesh Chaudhari took two wickets each.
Wright led his team to 8/211 with Daniel Dodds making 44 in his first A-grade game of the season.
Dodds has played most of the season in D-grade, scoring 453 runs at 45.3 with a top score of 95.
Halls Head narrowly got over the line against Warnbro to cement their place inside the top four. Warnbro elected to bat first with openers Benjamin Doudle (34) and Daniel Cook (27) getting the innings off to a good start.
Keren Ugle top scored with 36 as his side went on to post a competitive 9/191 from their 50 overs.
Cameron Burrage and Cameron Lucas both collected two wickets for Halls Head.
In reply opener Ryan Burns posted his highest score of the season with a well-made 80.
Josh Peterson chipped in with 42 to push his sides total past Warnbro’s.
Tannah Dunning fished on 35 not out with Halls Head reaching 7/211 from their 50 overs.
Rory Hood was the pick of the Warnbro bowlers with 2/23 from five overs.
Shoalwater Bay’s bowlers helped their side to a big win over Mandurah.
Mandurah won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision which proved to be a bad one with the side bowled out for 98.
Mitchell Smith ripped through the attack collecting 3/14 from six overs for Shoalwater Bay.
In reply Bradley Ranford (36), Brandan Gillian (43), Nicholas Milligan (38) and Mitchell Smith (31 not out) all contributed with Shoalwater Bay all-out for 209.
Stewart Moar cleaned up the tailed with 3/20 from 3.5 overs while Matthew Jenkinson was economical with 2/14 from 10 overs.
Singleton Irwinians were able to defend 6/169 to defeat White Knight Baldivis.
Singleton Irwinians’ total would have been far lower had it not been for a 78 from Bryce Evans who backed up 116 in his previous innings.
Bradley Raath was the pick of the Baldivis bowlers with 2/25 from 10 overs.
Baldivis were never in the hunt with the side dismissed for just 61 in the 32nd over.
Ian Bowes was unstoppable with the ball for Singleton Irwinians, picking up 3/8 from his 10 overs.
Daniel Jones and David Morgan also picked up three wickets each.
Singleton Irwinians are now just 0.19 points outside of the top four.
Cricket will return on January 31 with South Mandurah hosting White Knights Baldivis, Singleton Irwinians taking on Shoalwater Bay, Mandurah up against Halls Head, Waroona playing Warnbro and Hillman are at home against Pinjarra.
