LOCAL musician Matt Gresham has joined Andrew Winton and Roly Skender in hosting the Fairbridge Festival’s songwriting workshops.
The popular workshops, which are part of the Youth Songwriting Competition, are designed to assist budding young songwriters to tap into their inner resources to write the 2015 winning song.
This is the first time Gresham has volunteered to do any sort of musical workshop.
“It’s about getting the kids together and finding creativity and living in the moment,” he said.
“Kids have a different mind to adults; they’re freer.
“They’re minds are fresh.” Gresham will be doing an exclusive workshop in Mandurah on January 10 at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre from 9.30am-12.30pm, while Skender will host one on February 10 for Pinjarra Senior High School students.
Both Skender and Winton will also host workshops in Perth in coming months.
Participants will learn how to hone their own tunes through a unique and creative process of discussion, performance, lyric writing and recording. Workshop places are on a first-come-first-served basis and tickets can be booked at fairbridgefestival.com.au
